Just as bad weather hit the north-west the night before, Manchester City blew United aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing three goal victory for their manager's side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a display that truly announced their leadership claims as they reinforced their place at the WSL pinnacle.

Back-to-Back Defeats for Manchester United

This scoreline marked consecutive league setbacks for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since May 2024, leaving them a significant margin off the top team with their title hopes in serious doubt.

Manchester United's capability to juggle domestic and continental soccer with a small team has been a hotly discussed topic since they earned a place in the Champions League.
