From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
