Approximately twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the region, generating wind gusts hitting 109km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Broad Destruction
Locals observed large ice chunks measuring up to 7 centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by significant hail.

Response teams were attempting to repair power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, approximately one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received 598 emergency reports across the area, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were expected to linger along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coast.
The following day was predicted as the most rainy day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential predicted across various areas of both states.
Medical Alert
Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This alert comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the area.
